  MONTHLY AGRICULTURAL SITUATION REPORT October  2019 BATANGAS PROVINCE CROPS In the municipalities of Bauan, San Pascual and San Luis, harvesting of squash and cassava started.  Meanwhile other plants were still on the vegetables and maturing stage In Barangay Locloc, Bauan, about 400 kilograms of atis was harvested at P35.00 per kilograms.  In addition, in the barangays of Tabangao and Pinamucan in Batangas City, an estimated 150 tons of the same crop was harvested and priced at P20.00.  Produced were brought at Divisoria and Batangas markets.  About nine hectares of yellow corn was harvested in Batangas City with a production of 45.0 tons. In the town of San Luis, the PINAKA Contest (Best Kalabasa) was held last October 28, 2019.  This was held during the town’s Farmers Day celebration.  This event showcased/exhibited and marketed also vegetables like ampalaya, stringbeans, patola and also bagoong products. In barangay Tumaway, Talisay, about 3,500 pieces of banana, saba was harvested with the farm gate price ranged of P1.50 to P1.75 per piece.  LIVESTOCK  AND POULTRY Farmgate Price of hogs is from P90.00-P85.00 per kilo liveweight at commercial level.  In the municipalities of Bauan and San Pascual slow demand was observed. FISHERIES Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) announces that closing season for fishing in Balayan Bay for commercial fishing boats will start on November 17, 2019.  This closing season will last for two months.
