The number of live births for the month of June 2023 registered a total of 4,731. This showed an increase of 5.1 percent from 4,501 live births in June 2022. This gave a daily average occurrence of 153 babies or 6 babies every hour. There were more male babies (2,410 or 50.9 percent) than female babies 2,321 or 49.1 percent) during this period, resulting in a sex ratio of birth of 104 males for every 100 females. City of Calamba had the highest recorded number of live births at 1,159 which accounts for 24.5 percent of the total. This was followed by City of Santa Rosa with 540 births and City of Biñan and Municipality of Santa Cruz with both 520 births or 11.4 percent and 11.0 percent, respectively. On the other hand, municipalities of Rizal and Paete had the lowest number of births with 2 and 6 registered births, respectively. These showed 0.0 percent and 0.1 percent of the total live births for the month of June 2023. Figure 1. Those who were born twins registered at 1.1 percent of the total births. Table 1. Number of Registered Live Births by Type of Birth, Laguna: June 2023   Less than half of those born in June 2023 were legitimate (1,421 or 30 percent of the total registered live births). The illegitimate, on the other hand, comprised 3,310 live births or 70 percent. Figure 2. It was followed by midwives with 1,356 live births or 28.7 percent. Services of traditional hilot comprised 16.8 percent with 795 live births. Figure 3.
