Area Harvested The total harvest area for palay was estimated at 5,917 hectares. It abruptly increased by 109.0 percent from 2,831 hectares in the third quarter of 2019. In irrigated palay farms, harvest area increased by 16.1 percent from 2,831 hectares in the third quarter of 2019  to  3,286  hectares in the same period of  2020.  The harvest area in rainfed and upland palay farms were 2,478 hectares and 153 hectares, respectively  while there  was  no harvest area reported in both type of farms during third quarter of 2019.   Yield per Hectare   The average yield of palay per hectare in Quezon province  slightly  decreased  by  0.3  percent in the  third  quarter of 2020. The provincial average went  down  to  3.25  metric tons from 3.26  metric  tons per hectare in the same period in 2019. The yield in irrigated areas was posted at 3.50 metric tons  per hectare, an  increase  of  7.4  percent  from  the 3.26  metric tons per hectare  for the same  reference period.  The yield in rainfed and upland areas were 3.06 metric tons and 1.16 metric tons per hectare, respectively while there was no yield reported in both  type of  farms during third quarter  of 2019.   Quezon Province is the Top Corn Producer in CALABARZON for the Third Quarter of 2020   Quezon  produced 19,454 metric tons of corn during the third quarter of 2020. It remains as the top producer of corn in CALABARZON region  accounting for  69.4 percent of the region’s total production of 28,019 metric tons. Batangas followed with 5,814 metric tons (20.8%), then Cavite with  1,053  metric tons (3.8%).  Laguna  and  Rizal  contributed  3.7%  with 1,038  metric tons and 2.4% with 660 metric tons, respectively.
