Number of Marriages… There were 620 marriages registered in Quezon in February 2023. It recorded a decrease of 24.7 percent from the previous month’s total of 823. The daily average of registered marriages during the month was 22, lower than the recorded daily average of 27 in January 2023. Marriages by Place of Occurrence… Candelaria (64 or 10.3 %) had the highest number of registered marriages, followed by Mulanay (54 or 8.7 %) and Lucena City (49 or 7.9 %). Sariaya (45 or 7.3 %) and San Francisco (42 or 6.8 %) recorded the next highest registered marriages. Around 41.5 percent of the 41 municipalities/cities in the province registered less than 10 marriage occurrences during the month. There was no registered marriage event in the municipalities of Alabat, Jomalig and Macalelon. Marriages by Type of Ceremony… The most number of registered marriages was solemnized under civil rites, with 388 or 62.6 percent. Marriages performed under church rites totaled 183 accounting for 29.5 percent of the total registered marriages. There were two marriage events celebrated under Muslim rites, equivalent to 0.3 percent. Marriages celebrated under other types of ceremonies comprised 7.6 percent. Marriages by Age Group of Groom and Bride… The highest recorded number of brides and grooms belonged to age group 25-29 years, with 219 (35.3 %) and 222 (35.8 %), respectively. There were twenty-two (22) teen brides and five (5) teen grooms in February. Marriages by Previous Marital Status of Groom and Bride… Almost all of the couples were first timers or single brides (610) and grooms (611) prior to the marriage. Only a small percentage of brides and grooms were widow/ widower and divorced prior to the marriage. Marriages by Nationality of Groom and Bride… About 98.5 percent of the grooms and 99.8 of the brides were Filipinos in the registered marriages in February. Intermarriages between Filipino brides and grooms of foreign descent were with American, British, Canadian, Chinese, Japanese, Jordanian, Romanian and Taiwanese.
