Special Release on Vital Statistics Report: June 2023 Marriages in Laguna (Preliminary Results)

The number of marriages for the month of June 2023 registered a total of 1,021. This showed a decrease of 6.7 percent from 1,094 marriages in June 2022. On average, 33 marriages a day occurred in June 2023. Among the cities/municipalities in Laguna, the City of Calamba had the highest recorded number of marriages with 180 couples. It comprised 17.6 percent of the total marriages. It was followed by the City of San Pedro with 119 (11.7 percent) and San Pablo City with 101 (9.9 percent) marriages, respectively. On the other hand, the municipality of Santa Maria recorded the least with only 6 (0.6 percent) marriages. Figure 1. Number of Registered Marriages by City/Municipality, Laguna: June 2023 By type of ceremony, marriages solemnized under Civil Rites showed the largest proportion with 473 or 46.3 percent of the total marriages in Laguna. Ranked second was marriages under Roman Catholic with 321 or 31.4 percent followed by marriages solemnized under Other Religious Rites with 227 or 22.2 percent. However, none were officiated under Muslim and Tribal rites. Figure 2. Number of Registered Marriages by Type of Ceremony, Laguna: June 2023 Figure 3 shows that most of the marriages in June 2023 were timely registered with 1,000 or 98 percent. In ordinary marriage, or a marriage requiring a marriage license, the time for submission of the Certificate of Marriage to the concerned Local Civil Registry Office is within fifteen (15) days following the solemnization of marriage while in marriages exempt from license requirement, the prescribed period is thirty (30) days. Number of Registered Marriages by Status of Registration, Laguna: June 2023 Most marriage rites in June 2023 were officiated in the church with 434 marriages or 42.5 percent of the total followed by marriage officiated in the Office of the Mayor, Judge, etc. with 414 marriages or 40.5 percent.
