The number of marriages for the second quarter of the year 2023 registered a total of 2,721. This showed a decrease of 21.1 percent from 3,448 marriages in the second quarter of the year 2022. On average, 30 marriages a day occurred in the second quarter of 2023. Among the cities/municipalities in Laguna, the City of Calamba had the highest recorded number of marriages with 515 couples. It comprised 18.9 percent of the total marriages. It was followed by the City of San Pablo with 288 (10.6 percent) and City of San Pedro with 278 (10.2 percent) marriages, respectively. On the other hand, the municipalities of Rizal and Santa Maria recorded the least with only 16 (0.6 percent) marriages. Figure 1. Number of Registered Marriages by City/Municipality, Laguna: 2nd Quarter 2023 By type of ceremony, marriages solemnized under Civil Rites showed the largest proportion with 1,294 or 47.6 percent of the total marriages in Laguna. Ranked second was marriages under Roman Catholic with 753 or 27.7 percent followed by marriages solemnized under Other Religious Rites with 673 or 24.7 percent. However, none were officiated under Tribal rites. Figure 2. Number of Registered Marriages by Type of Ceremony, Laguna: Second Quarter 2023 Figure 3 shows that most of the marriages in June 2023 were timely registered with 2,668 or 98 percent. In ordinary marriage, or a marriage requiring a marriage license, the time for submission of the Certificate of Marriage to the concerned Local Civil Registry Office is within fifteen (15) days following the solemnization of marriage while in marriages exempt from license requirement, the prescribed period is thirty (30) days. A report beyond the reglementary period is considered late. Figure 3. Number of Registered Marriages by Status of Registration, Laguna: Second Quarter 2023 Most marriage rites in the second quarter of 2023 were officiated in the Office of the Mayor, Judge, etc. with 1,191 or 43.8 percent of the total, followed by marriage officiated in the church with 1,078 marriages or 39.6 percent.
