Quezon Provincial Statistical Office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), together with the Local Government Unit of Mauban, awarded a copy of the birth certificate in security paper to Francisca Gallego Medrina, a centenarian beneficiary of the PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) on May 23, 2023. Ms. Francisca Medrina, who hails from Mauban, Quezon is also now registered to the  Philippine Identification System or PhilSys. The birth certificate she received will serve as supporting document for the awaited cash grant to be given by DSWD for those who have reached the age of 100 years old. The awarding was facilitated by the local government of the said municipality, headed by Hon. Erwin Dwight C. Pastrana, together with Municipal Civil Registrar Marconi M. Calong and Registration Officer II Jocylen Maog of PSA-Quezon. The PBRAP was implemented in the country to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices and that they will be enrolled with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), especially in marginalized communities such as those belonging to the Indigenous People, Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest sector in the country, and to ensure that they have their PhilIDs issued, which is a gateway for them to claim their social benefits and legal identity. The successful awarding of birth certificates in SECPA is an indicator of the effective implementation of PBRAP between PSA and LGUs. (J.Maog/PSA-Quezon) (SGD.) AIRENE A.
