Laurel, Batangas – In significant move towards promoting inclusive civil registration, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Batangas successfully distributed free Security Paper (SECPA) and local copies of birth certificates to beneficiaries of the Birth Registration Assistance Project in Laurel, Batangas. The activity took place on July 22, 2024, marked a milestone in efforts to ensure that every individual has access to their essential civil documents.
The distribution ceremony was graced by Mayor Lyndon M. Bruce, Vice Mayor Celso Aristotle M. Parilla, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, Municipal Civil Registrar Ronalyn C. Ramos and local civil registry office staff. Their presence underscored the local government's commitment in supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of its citizens.
Regional Director Charito C. Armonia of RSSO IV-A, Chief Statistical Specialist Raul Maximo B. Tolentino of PSO Batangas and Birth Registration Coordinator Jeanette L. Veyra were also present in the activity. They highlighted the importance of civil registration in accessing various social services and benefit, emphasizing that possessing an official birth certificate is a fundamental right of every Filipino.
"We are dedicated to ensuring that every individual has access to their birth certificates, as these documents are crucial for availing various government services.” said RD Armonia.
“This initiative is part of our broader effort to enhance the inclusivity and efficiency of our civil registration system.’’ said CSS Tolentino.
Mayor Lyndon M. Bruce also expressed his gratitude to the PSA for its efforts and reaffirmed the local government's support for the project.
One of the beneficiaries is Nanay Adelaida Pangilinan Orbita, an 88 years old resident of Brgy. As-is and the oldest recipient present in the activity. By providing free SECPA copies, the project helps beneficiaries’ secure essential document, which is crucial for accessing education, healthcare, and other government services.
The PSA remains committed to its mission of delivering reliable and accessible civil registration services to all Filipinos. This distribution event in Laurel, Batangas, is just one of many initiatives aimed at achieving this goal.
