The number of live births for the month of January 2023 registered a total of 4,827. This showed an increase of 17.3 percent from 4,115 live births in January 2022. This gave a daily average occurrence of 156 babies or 6 babies every hour. There were more male babies (2,586 or 53.6 percent) than female babies 2,241 or 46.4 percent) during this period, resulting in a sex ratio of birth of 115 males for every 100 females.    Figure 1. Number of Registered Live Births by City/Municipality in Laguna: January 2023   City of Calamba had the highest recorded number of live births at 1,045 which accounts for 21.6 percent of the total. This was followed by City of Biñan with 558 births and City of San Pablo with 526 births or 11.6 percent and 10.9 percent, respectively. On the other hand, municipalities of Cavinti and Magdalena had the lowest number of births with both 9 registered births. These showed 0.2 percent of the total live births for the month of January 2023.   Table 1. Those who were born twins registered at 0.8 percent and those who were born triplets registered at 0.02 of the total births.   Figure 2. The illegitimate, on the other hand, comprised 3,216 live births or 66.6 percent.   Figure 3.
