The headline inflation in the province of Batangas jumped to 7.0 percent in August 2021 from 5.5 percent in July 2021. This is the highest inflation recorded since 2019. With the August 2021 inflation, Batangas average inflation from January to August 2021 stood at 4.9 percent. In August 2020, inflation rate was lower at 1.0 percent Batangas CPI posts at 131.5 in August 2021 The top three commodity groups that recorded high price indices were: alcoholic beverages and tobacco (357.0), restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services (150.3) and health (14.9). On the other hand, the bottom 3 commodity groups with low price indices were: housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (114.7), Transport (111.2) and communication (103.6)
