Live births… A total of 3,182 live births were registered in the province in January 2021. It recorded a decrease of 3.6 percent from the December 2020 figure of 3,301. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 103. Of the total births registered, 52.5 percent were males and 47.5 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 110 males for every 100 females. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 703 or 22.1 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Candelaria with a total of 309 or 9.7 percent and Lopez with 236 or 7.4 percent. The least number of registered births were observed in the municipalities of Pitogo, Plaridel and San Antonio with only two (2) or 0.1 percent. Attendant at Birth... The 2,584 (81.2 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives.  Among the medically trained personnel, physicians attended to the most number of deliveries with 1,381 or 43.4 percent of the total births registered.  The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 598 or 18.8 percent of the total.  Two municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals.  The municipality of San Francisco (88.5 percent) topped the list of areas with high percentage of birth deliveries attended to by non-health professionals. It was followed by the municipalities of San Narciso (81.3 percent) and Buenavista (48.0 percent). Age-group of mother… Seven in ten births were born to mothers aged 20-34 (2,298 or 72.2 percent).  The number of births born to teenage mothers was 390 or 12.3 percent.  A total of 14 births or 0.4 percent were born to mothers at the menopausal age (45 years old and over).

BIRTH STATISTICS IN QUEZON: January 2024 (Preliminary Results)

A total of 3,685 live births were registered in the province in January 2024. It recorded an increase of 8.5 percent from the December 2023 figure of 3,397.
