SPECIAL RELEASE PRICE SITUATION IN BATANGAS APRIL 2021 (2012=100) The data presented herein were based on the results of the 2012-based Consumer Price Index Survey for all income households in Batangas for the month of April 2021. YEAR-ON-YEAR The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is an indicator of the change in the average retail prices of goods and services commodity purchased by the household for their day– to –day consumption. ■ The Consumer Price Index (CPI of Batangas for April 2021 was posted at 128.1 index points. ■ It increased by 5.5 index points from last year’s figure of 122.6. ■ Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained the highest index point change of 58.2 among the commodity groups. ■ Positive index point change also showed in Food and non-Alcoholic Beverages, Restaurant and Miscellaneous Goods and Services, Transportation, Health, Education Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Maintenance of the House, and clothing and footwear. ■ On the other hand, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels; Recreation and Culture recorded negative index point change while Communication remain constant. MONTH ON MONTH Inflation Rate is the percentage increase or decrease in prices during a specific period usually a month or a year. ■ The inflation rate in the province was recorded at 4.5 percent during the reference month. ■ It increase by 0.3 percentage points from the previous month’s figure with 4.2 percent. ■ In all commodity group, the highest are alcoholic beverages and tobacco, posted at a CPI of 357.9 during the month. ■ Restaurant and Miscellaneous Goods group (147) exhibited the second highest CPI, followed by the commodity group of Health (140.9) ■ Remained and registered the lowest commodity group during the month, Communication with 103.3. FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ■ Prices of consumer items in the province decrease at 0.4 index point change from the month of March to April 2021. ■ Compare to the last month Food and Non Alcoholic Beverages recorded at –0.1 index point change.
