SPECIAL RELEASE Birth Statistics Batangas City reported the highest number of births with 2, 555 or  18.7 percent of the total. This was followed by Lipa City and Tanauan City with 2,311 or 16.9   and 1,331 or 9.8 percent , respectively.  However, municipality of Sta. Teresita reported the lowest registration of live births with 6 births or 0.04 percent of the total. More than half of the total registered live births were males with 6,980 or 51.2 percent of the total while 6, 662 or 48.8 percent were females.  These data were translated to a sex ratio at birth of  104.7 males per 95.4 females . Marriage Statistics Most of the marriage rites occurred in Lipa City with 621 registered marriages in the fourth quarter. Batangas City ranked second with 315 (8.8%) , followed by Nasugbu in third with 214 (5.9%) and City of Tanauan and municipality of Calaca which ranked in fourth and fifth with 204 (5.7%) and 194 (5.4%) , respectively.  The least number of marriages was recorded in the municipality of Tingloy  with a count of 12  marriages. Majority of the marriages was solemnized under church rites with a percentage of 61 percent. There were 30 percent contracted through civil rites and the remaining other rites recorded at  9% cases. Death Statistics The registered death occurrences for the quarter increased by 573   compared to last year quarter  with 4,173 deaths . In terms of the highest number of death cases, the leading city is Batangas City with a total of 1,302 deaths followed by Lipa City (612) . Conversely, San Nicolas  had the least registered death case with 14 registered deaths. The daily average of registered deaths in the quarter  was estimated to 51 deaths . From the total registered deaths in Batangas, 62.2 percent (2,954) were attended by health professionals (private physician, public health officer and hospital authority) while 37.8 percent (1,792) were attended by non-health professionals. Distribution of Deaths by Sex From that total, 56.4% were estimated for males and the remaining 43.6% were estimated for females. This means that more males were registered to have succumbed to death than females, thus resulting to a sex ratio of 129.4 males per 77.3 females .
