Vital registration is a continuous process. Hence there is a need to specify certain cut-off period for purposes of reporting. The Birth Statistics in Quezon presented in this report contains highlights and summary of statistical tables of births that occurred on or before January 2018 and registered within the said month. Events that occurred in January 2018 but were not registered during the month were not included in this publication. For this report, Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2011 was used in data encoding. In the generation of DVSS tables however, CSPro 6.2 was utilized. Live births… A total of 4,267 live births were registered in the province in January 2018. It recorded an increase of 8.0 percent from the December 2017 figure of 3,952. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 138. Of the total births registered, 51.7 percent were males and 48.3 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 107 males for every 100 females. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,164 or 27.3 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Lopez with a total of 316 or 7.4 percent. The least number of registered births was observed in the municipality of Sampaloc with only 1 or 0.02 percent. Attendant at Birth...  The 3,310 (77.6 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. Among the medically trained personnel, physicians attended to the most number of deliveries with 2,065 or 48.4 percent of the total births registered.The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 944 or 22.1 percent of the total. Four municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals. The municipality of San Francisco (80.9 percent) topped the list of areas with high percentage of birth deliveries attended to by non-health professionals. It was followed by the municipalities of San Andres, San Narciso and Buenavista with 74.4 percent, 59.0 percent and 50.7 percent, respectively.     See more at ISSN 373 Data Herald 2018 January Birth

BIRTH STATISTICS IN QUEZON: October 2023 (Preliminary Results)

A total of 4,303 live births were registered in the province in October 2023. It recorded a decrease of 0.7 percent from the September 2023 figure of 4,335.
