29 October 2024, Trece Martires City. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Cavite Provincial Statistical Office successfully conducted the 28th Philippine Statisics Quiz (PSQ) - 19th Provincial Elimination on 29 October 2024 at the District Hall, Trece Martires City Elementary School.
The competition was participated by 28 freshmen students from 15 schools vying for the top spot, showcasing their knowledge of statistics and PSA initiatives. The PSQ, a nationwide event, aims to empower students with a deeper understanding of statistics and its vital role in government operation.
In an exhilarating display of academic prowess, Benedict S. Rodil, a BS Applied Mathematics freshman from De La Salle University - Dasmariñas emerged triumphant; Allen Rhome R. Agawa from City College of Tagaytay garnered 2nd place; Ken D. Cadayona, other participants from De La Salle University - Dasmariñas being the 3rd place; Mark Leonard V. Abuan of STI College - Rosario got the 4th Place and Dray Turry L. Santos from Cavite State Univesity - Don Severino de las Alas Campus landed on the 5th place.
These triumphant students will now represent the province of Cavite in the Regional Eliminations scheduled for November 8, 2024.
The event was expertly led by Chief Statistical Specialist Lucia Iraida A. Soneja along with the dedicated team from the Cavite Provincial Statistical Office.
Serving as the Chairperson of the Board of Judges was Information Technology Officer III Annie Q. Tacason from Provincial Information and Communications Technology Office (PICTO). She was joined by Statistical Specialist II Jan Irvin Mark A. Sison from PSA RSSO 04A and Project Evaluation Officer III Gela Rushane S. Sale of the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), who contributed their expertise to ensure a fair and thorough judging process.
As the event drew to a close, Supervising Statistical Specialist Raquel C. Ronario took the stage to deliver a heartfelt congratulatory message. She praised all participants, coaches, and their respective schools for their commitment and enthusiasm, emphasizing the importance of statistical literacy in today's data - driven world. The competition not only highlighted the talents of young statisticians but also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among educational institution in Cavite. The event is seen as a stepping stone towards nurturing future leaders in statistics and data analysis. (MIEP)
