

The headline inflation or overall inflation in Quezon province decreased to 1.8 percent in June 2025, from 2.5 percent in May 2025. This brings the average inflation rate of the province from January to June 2025 to 3.3 percent. Moreover, the inflation rate in June 2024 was higher, at 5.3 percent.
The decrease in overall inflation for June 2025 was mainly attributed to the slower annual increase in the heavily weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages, which eased to 2.4 percent during the month from 3.8 percent in the previous month, and to the decline in the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels index, which dropped to -0.8 percent from 1.1 percent in May 2025.
On the other hand, the following commodity groups recorded higher inflation rates during the month:
a. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco at 6.6 percent, from 6.0 percent;
b. Clothing and footwear at 1.2 percent, from 1.1 percent;
c. Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance at 2.5 percent, from 2.3 percent;
d. Transport at -3.7 percent, from -4.9 percent;
e. Information and communication at 1.0 percent, from 0.9 percent;
f. Recreation, sport and culture at 1.2 percent, from 1.0 percent;
g. Education services at 4.1 percent, from 3.0 percent;
h. Restaurants and accommodation services at 6.3 percent, from 5.8 percent; and
i. Personal care, and miscellaneous goods and services at 2.6 percent, from 2.3 percent.
Meanwhile, the following commodity groups retained their annual rates from the previous month:
a. Health at 1.3 percent; and
b. Financial services at 0.0 percent.


Food inflation in Quezon province decreased to 2.4 percent in June 2025, from 3.9 percent in May 2025. In June 2024, food inflation was significantly higher at 9.9 percent.
The slowdown in food inflation in June 2025 was primarily due to the lower year-on-year increase in the index of vegetables, tubers, plantains, cooking bananas and pulses, which dropped to -7.4 percent from 4.7 percent in the previous month.
Moreover, the following commodity groups also contributed to the downtrend during the month:
a. Rice at -10.6 percent, from -9.3 percent;
b. Meat and other parts of slaughtered land animals at 14.2 percent, from 14.5 percent;
c. Fish and other seafood at 5.3 percent, from 7.8 percent;
d. Milk, other dairy products and eggs at 8.4 percent, from 9.4 percent;
e. Oils and fats at 32.6 percent, from 33.7 percent; and
f. Sugar, confectionery and desserts at -3.8 percent, from -3.6 percent.
In contrast, higher annual growth rates were observed in the following food groups during the month:
a. Corn at 8.0 percent, from -1.6 percent;
b. Flour, bread and other bakery products, pasta products, and other cereals at 1.7 percent, from 1.3 percent;
c. Fruits and nuts at 21.1 percent, from 15.8 percent; and
d. Ready-made food and other food products not elsewhere classified at 2.2 percent, from 1.8 percent.
