The Palay Production Survey (PPS) is conducted quarterly to gather data on palay production, area, and yield, including information on planting/harvested areas, monthly production distribution, farm household usage, standing crop area, input usage, and program participation. The data presented here where validated and obtained from the Philippine Statistics Authority- OpenStat Database.

In the second quarter of 2024, Laguna produced 6,041.66 metric tons of palay, a 2.9% decrease from the same period in 2023, when production reached 6,224.40 metric tons.
Correspondingly, the area harvested for palay in the province increased by 21.4%, from 1,911.00 hectares in the second quarter of 2023 to 2,320.14 hectares in the second quarter of 2024.
Furthermore, there was a 20.2% decrease in yield per hectare, dropping from 3.26 metric tons per hectare in the second quarter of 2023 to 2.60 metric tons per hectare in the second quarter of 2024.
Overall, palay production in the CALABARZON Region declined by 24.0%, dropping from 36,692.41 metric tons
in the second quarter of 2024 to 27,888.51 metric tons in the same quarter of 2024.
Laguna ranks the second highest in terms of palay production volume among the five provinces, contributing
21.66% (6,041.66 metric tons) of the region's total.
In terms of the total area harvested for palay in the CALABARZON Region, there was an 18.1% decrease from 10,289.00 hectares in the second quarter of 2023 to 8,428.42 hectares in the same quarter of 2024. Laguna had the second highest proportion of the harvested area, comprising 27.53% (2,320.14 hectares).
In terms of total yield, there was a decrease of 1.4% percent from the 19,747.01 metric tons volume of palay production from irrigated farms in second quarter 2023. Likewise, the palay produced from rainfed farms decreased by 23.2 percent from 1,327.37 metric tons in second quarter 20223 to 1,019.90 metric tons in second quarter 2024.
