Quezon Province is the Top Palay Producer in CALABARZON in 2023 
Quezon was the top palay producing province in CALABARZON in 2023. It produced 204,629.00 metric tons of palay comprising 47.2 percent of the total regional output of 433,399.42 metric tons.

Laguna was the second top palay producer in the region with 33.7 percent share (146,255.35 MT) followed by Batangas with 8.8 percent (38,026.81 MT). Rizal and Cavite contributed 5.4 percent (23,516.66 MT), and 4.8 percent (20,971.60 MT), respectively. 

Palay Production 
Quezon’s production increased by 10.1 percent compared to its output in 2022 (185,878.50 metric tons).

By ecosystem, palay production in irrigated farms was 132,266.00 metric tons. This figure was 16.1 percent higher compared to the 113,964.00 metric tons produced in 2022. Likewise, production in rainfed areas went up by 0.6 percent from 71,914.50 metric tons recorded in 2022 to 72,363.00 metric tons in 2023.

Harvest Area 
The total harvest area for palay was estimated at 54,389.00 hectares. It went up by 4.0 percent from 52,297 hectares in 2022.

In irrigated palay farms, harvest area increased by 7.0 percent from 30,860 hectares in 2022 to 33,035 hectares in 2023. Moreover, harvest area for rainfed palay farms posted a 0.4 percent decrease from 21,437 hectares to 21,354 hectares.

Yield per Hectare 
The average yield of palay in Quezon province reached 3.76 metric tons per hectare during the reference period from 3.55 metric tons per hectare in 2022. The yield in irrigated areas was posted at 4.00 metric tons per hectare from the 3.69 MT/ha in 2022, increasing by 8.4 percent. The yield in rainfed areas also increased by 1.0 percent from 3.35 metric tons to 3.39 metric tons per hectare.
