POPULATION In October 2019, the Philippine Statistics Authority released the updated 2010 Census-based Population Projections using the results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). The special release included projections of annual mid-year population from years 2016-2025 by sex and age group up to provincial level. Some of the projections made are presented in this special release on the Women and Men of the region. Updated Projected Mid-Year Population Based on 2015 POPCEN by Sex, Single-Calendar Year, CALABARZON: 2020 - 2025 Sex 2020 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 Total 16,057,299 16,361,107 16,654,975 16,938,893 17,213,591 17,477,569 Men 8,033,342 8,183,055 8,327,704 8,467,288 8,602,172 8,731,619 Women 8,023,957 8,178,052 8,327,271 8,471,605 8,611,419 8,745,950 Source: Philippine Statistics Authority For 2020, projected mid-year population of CALABARZON was estimated at 16,057,299. By 2025, the region’s population was projected to reach 17,477,569. By 2020, it was estimated that female population (8,745,950) will surpass the male population (8,731,619). Comparing the 2020 and 2025 population pyramid, by 2025, it is projected that the base of the pyramid is slowly tapering off, which means that there are more people in the age group10-14 than those belonging to age groups 0-4 and 5-9 years old. Our Old-Age population will also expand slowly, by 2025, because people tend to have longer life span. By 2025, men will still dominate the younger age group; while women will dominate the older age groups starting at age group 35-39. VITAL STATISTICS Source: Philippine Statistics Authority, Vital Statistics By usual residence of the Mother, in 2018, registered live births in the region reached 248,297. There were more male live births than female live births. Sex ratio was at 109 which means that there were 109 male live births for every 100 female live births. In 2018, there were about 62,507 number of marriages that were registered in the region. Most of the bride (37.1 percent) and groom (38.2 percent) belonged to age group 25-29 years old. About 27.4 percent of the bride were aged 20-24 years old. And nearly one in four (24.1 percent) of the groom were aged 30-34 years old. Brides and grooms that marry at age 60 and over had shares of 0.3 and 1.0 percent, respectively. Source: Philippine Statistics Authority, Vital Statistics Source: Philippine Statistics Authority, Vital Statistics There were 85,816 number of registered deaths that happened in the region in 2018.
