POPULATION In October 2019, the Philippine Statistics Authority released the updated 2010 Census-based Population Projections using the results of the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015). The special release included projections of annual mid-year population from years 2016-2025 by sex and age group up to provincial level. Some of the projections made are presented in this special release on the Women and Men of the region. Updated Projected Mid-Year Population based on 2015 POPCEN by Sex, CALABARZON: 2021 - 2025 Sex 2021 2022 2023 2024 2025 Total 16,361,107 16,654,975 16,938,893 17,213,591 17,477,569 Male 8,183,055 8,327,704 8,467,288 8,602,172 8,731,619 Female 8,178,052 8,327,271 8,471,605 8,611,419 8,745,950 Source: Philippine Statistics Authority For 2021, projected mid-year population of CALABARZON was estimated at 16,361,107. By 2025, the region’s population was projected to reach 17,477,569. By 2025, it was estimated that female population (8,745,950) will surpass the male population (8,731,619). Comparing the 2020 and 2025 population pyramid, by 2025, it is projected that the base of the pyramid is slowly tapering off, which means that there will be more people in the age group10-14 than those belonging to age groups 0-4 and 5-9 years old. Old-Age population will also expand slowly, by 2025, indicating that people of CALABARZON tend to have longer life span. By 2025, men will still dominate the younger age group; while women will dominate the older age groups starting at age group 35-39. VITAL STATISTICS Vital statistics are derived from information obtained at the time when the occurrences of vital events and their characteristics are inscribed in a civil register. Vital acts and events are the births, deaths, fetal deaths, marriages, and all such events that have something to do with an individual's entrance and departure from life together with the changes in civil status that may occur to a person during his lifetime. Recording of these events in the civil register is known as vital or civil registration and the resulting documents are called vital records.
