The number of deaths for the month of January 2023 reached a total of 1,836. This shows a decrease by 9.1 percent from 2,020 deaths in January 2022. There was a daily average occurrence of 59 deaths or about 2 persons died per hour during this period.  More male deaths (1,018 or 55.4 percent) than female deaths (818 or 44.6 percent) during this period, resulting in a sex ratio of death of 124 males for every 100 females.   Figure 1. Number of Registered Deaths by City/Municipality and by Sex, Laguna: January 2023   City of Calamba shows the highest recorded number of registered deaths at which accounts to 14.1 percent or 258 of the total number of deaths in the province.  This was followed by City of San Pablo with 254 deaths or 13.8 percent and City of Santa Rosa with 217 deaths or 11.8 percent registered during the month. On the other hand, municipalities of Mabitac and Rizal, had the lowest number with 6 and 7 registered deaths, respectively.  These shows 0.3 and 0.4 percent shares of the total deaths for the month of January 2023.   Table 1. Number of Registered Deaths by Age   Table 1 shows the distribution of death by age on both sexes of which years completed had the highest death rate of 97.4 percent.   Figure 2. Percent Distribution of Registered Deaths by Sex   More male deaths than female deaths recorded The number of male deaths (1,018 or 55.4 percent share) was higher than female deaths (818 or 44.6 percent share) in January 2023.   Figure 3. Percent Distribution of Attendant at Death, Laguna: January 2023   Attendant refers to a private physician, public health officer, hospital authority, or any other allied health care provider who provided medical attendance to the deceased at the time of death. Out of 1,836 registered deaths, 1,283 or 69.9 percent of deaths were attended by public health officer. It was followed by private physicians with 466 deaths or 25.4 percent.
