LIVESTOCK PRODUCTION The total volume of livestock production in the province of Quezon for 2021 was estimated at 50,766 metric tons. This was lower than the 59,678 metric tons reported a year ago, giving a decrease of 15.3 percent. Quezon swine production was posted at 37,350 metric tons, a decrement of 21.5 percent from the 47,555 metric tons posted in 2020. In contrast cattle and carabao increased in production by 12.7 percent (7,942 metric tons) and 5.8 percent (4,657 metric tons), respectively. Meanwhile, goat production reported an increment of 12.0 percent in 2021. Swine production comprised 73.7 percent of the total livestock production in the province. INVENTORY The total inventory of livestock in Quezon was registered at 438,32 heads. This was 1.9 percent lower than the previous year inventory of 446,619. The stocks of goat and carabao slightly increased by 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively. In contrast, inventory of swine and cattle declined by 3.3 percent and 1.1 percent compared to the same period in 2020. The number of livestock animals slaughtered in slaughterhouses in the province for 2021 was posted at 153,084 heads, down by 32.8 percent from 2020 figure of 227,930 heads. Slaughtered carabaos increased by 39.9 percent and cattle by 25.9 percent, respectively compared to 2020. Huge decrement of 35.6 percent (77,892 heads) was noted in swine. Likewise, goat also decreased by 13.7 percent (10 heads). POULTRY PRODUCTION The total annual chicken production decreased by 8.05 percent in 2021 from 73,369 metric tons in 2020 to 67,465 metric tons in 2021. In contrast, there was a 4.5 percent increase in total duck production during the reference period. The total chicken egg production posted an increment of 1,074 metric tons or an increase of 15.5 percent compared last year. On the other hand, the production of duck eggs recorded a decrement of 109 metric tons or 3.9 percent.
