Quezon Province is the Top Corn Producer in CALABARZON for the Fourth Quarter of 2021 Quezon produced 11,689 metric tons of corn during the fourth quarter of 2021. It remains as the top producer of corn in CALABARZON region accounting for 67.4 percent of the region’s total production of 17,335 metric tons. Batangas followed with 4,380 metric tons (25.3%), then Laguna with 697 metric tons (4.0%). Rizal contributed 357 metric tons (2.1%) while Cavite had the least share of 213 metric tons (1.2%). Corn Production Corn production in Quezon decreased by 29.18 percent from 16,506 metric tons produced in the 4th quarter of 2020. By crop type, white corn production was at 3,179 metric tons. This figure was 6.8 percent lower than the production in the same quarter of 2020 at 3,411 metric tons. Likewise, the production of yellow corn at 8,510 metric tons was down by 35.0 percent compared to the 13,095 metric tons produced in the fourth quarter of 2020. Harvest Area The harvest area of corn in Quezon during the fourth quarter of 2021 was estimated at 4,934 hectares. This was 18.8 percent lower than the recorded 6,076 hectares during the same quarter of 2020.
