Live births… A total of 4,708 live births were registered in the province in September 2022. It recorded an increase of 9.4 percent from the August figure of 4,304. Of the total births registered, 51.2 percent were males and 48.8 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 105 males for every 100 females. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 157. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,305 or 27.7 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Sariaya with a total of 337 or 7.2 percent, Candelaria with 320 or 6.8 percent, Lopez with 289 or 6.1 percent and Gumaca with 242 or 5.1 percent. The top 5 municipalities with the least number of registered births were Pitogo with 9 or 0.19 percent, Quezon and Sampaloc both with 6 or 0.13 percent, Perez with 4 or 0.08 percent and Plaridel with 1 or 0.02 percent. Attendant at Birth... The 3,531 (75.0 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. Among the medically trained personnel, physicians attended to the most number of deliveries with 2,098 or 44.6 percent of the total births registered. The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 1,177 or 25.0 percent of the total. By residence of mother, four municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals. These were the municipalities of San Francisco (81.2 percent), Patnanungan (74.3 percent), Buenavista (64.4 percent) and San Narciso (59.0 percent). Age-group of mother… Seven in ten births were born to mothers aged 20-34 (3,286 or 69.8 percent). The number of births born to teenage mothers was 570 or 12.1 percent. A total of 26 births or 0.6 percent were born to mothers at the menopausal age (45 years old and over).
A total of 3,685 live births were registered in the province in January 2024. It recorded an increase of 8.5 percent from the December 2023 figure of 3,397.
This special release presents gender statistics on vital events such as birth, marriage and death for the 1st Semestral 2024 in the Province of Cavite.
