The economy of the Province of Quezon grew by 6.0 percent in 2021, from a -6.2 percent decline in 2020. In 2021, the Gross Provincial Domestic Product (GPDP) of Quezon was valued at PhP 202.3 billion from the 2020 level of PhP 190.8 billion. (Figure 1) Source: Philippine Statistics Authority Among the major industries, Industry contributed 3.3 percentage points, closely followed by Services with 3.0 percentage points contribution. On the other hand, Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing pulled down the growth by -0.3 percentage points. Moreover, in terms of 16 production industries, the top three fastest growing industries in 2021 were: Mining and Quarrying; Construction; and Transportation and Storage. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) established through Republic Act No. 10625 or The Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, is tasked, among others, to compile and maintain macroeconomic accounts and indicators, at the national and subnational level. The Provincial Product Accounts (PPA) is a mechanism to measure the economic performance of the province or highly urbanized cities (HUCs) at a given time. Starting last year, the PSA annually releases the provincial level economic performances following the identified pilot provinces and HUCs. Quezon is one of the pilot areas for PPA compilation starting 2022.
