PRESS RELEASE: PSA Quezon Conducts July 2023 Labor Force Survey and Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES)

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Quezon is currently conducting the July 2023 Labor Force Survey (LFS). It is a nationwide survey of households conducted by the PSA to gather data on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population. It provides information as a basis for the formulation of policies and programs to create and generate gainful employment and livelihood opportunities, reduce unemployment and underemployment, and enhance the welfare of workers. The 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) is a rider survey to the July 2023 LFS. It aims to gather data on family income, sources of income, family expenditure, and related information affecting family income and expenditure levels and patterns in the Philippines; determine the income distribution, levels of living and spending patterns, and the degree of inequality among families; provide benchmark information to update the weights used in the estimation of Consumer Price Index (CPI); and to provide inputs in the estimation of the country’s poverty threshold and incidence. There are 2560 households/housing units in Quezon to be covered for these surveys. These are located in 30 sample municipalities and 2 cities of the province. Three (3) regular statistical staff and One Hundred (100) Statistical Researchers (SRs) are involved in the conduct of the said survey. The Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) data collection method will be employed for this survey with the use of android tablets. All involved personnel have undergone series of trainings to equip them with all the knowledge necessary to perform their tasks effectively. These are task force training, 2nd level training or regional level training, and 3rd level training or the provincial level training.
