PRESS RELEASE: PSA Quezon Conducts the January 2023 Consumer Expectations Survey

Philippine Statistics Authority Quezon is conducting the First Quarter 2023 Consumer Expectations Survey (CES) from January 19 - 31, 2023. It is a household-based survey on the consumers’ assessment of their family income, financial situation, and the economic condition of the country. CES is a joint undertaking between the PSA and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). PSA is primarily responsible for the data collection and processing while BSP’s responsibility is the generation of tables and analysis of the results. There are 63 sample households in Lucena City and a total of 100 sample households from the municipalities of Atimonan, Dolores, Gumaca, San Francisco and Tiaong. Five (5) statistical researchers will be involved in the data collection using the Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI). Data to be collected includes demographic and economic characteristics of the consumers, economic and financial outlook, economic indicators such as unemployment rate, buying conditions, savings outlook, debt situation of the consumers, among others. The results of the survey will provide quick and regular assessment of the financial condition of the consumers, and will guide planners in forecasting the direction of change of the economy as well as the behavior of key indicators such as inflation rate, interest rates and exchange rates. In line with this, Provincial Statistics Officer Airene A. Pucyutan, of PSA Quezon enjoins the cooperation and support of the respondents to provide the accurate and reliable information in various household surveys conducted by the PSA Quezon.
