The headline inflation in Laguna slow down to 2.3 percent in November 2023 from 3.0 percent in October 2023. Moreover, this is lower than the recorded inflation rate in the same month of November 2022 at 5.5 percent. The average inflation rate for the twelve months of the year stood at 6.1 percent. (Table A and Figure 1)

The slow down of province’s inflation was primarily due to the lower annual increment recorded in the indices of Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages at 3.5 percent from in November 2023 from 5.0 percent in October 2023; Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco 6.8 percent from 7.2 percent; Clothing and Footwear at 1.5 percent from 1.8 percent; Furnishing, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance at 0.8 percent from 0.9 percent; Health 1.6 percent from 1.8 percent; Recreation, Sport and Culture at 2.0 percent from 2.6 percent; Restaurant and Accommodation Services at 0.2 percent from 3.2 percent; and Personal Care and Miscellaneous Goods and Services at 1.7 percent from 3.3 percent.
Meanwhile, increase on inflation was recorded in the indices of Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels at 6.0 percent from 5.7 percent; and Transport at -3.3 percent from -4.4 percent.
The rest of the commodity groups either retained their previous month’s inflation rates or had zero percent annual growths. (Table B)

The slow down in inflation for Food Index was mainly brought by Corn at 4.5 percent in November 2023 from 8.1 percent in October 2023; Meat and Other Slaughtered Land Animals at -1.3 percent from -1.2 percent; Milk and Other Dairy Products and Eggs at 6.4 percent 2023 from 6.7 percent; Fruits and Nuts at 8.9 at 8.5 percent from 8.9 percent; Vegetables, Tubers, Cooking Bananas and Pulses at -5.9 percent from 16.3 percent; Sugar, Confectionery and Desserts at 2.0 percent from
7.2 percent; and Ready-Made Food and Other Food Products N.E.C at 5.0 percent from 4.1
percent.
Meanwhile, increase in inflation was observed in the indices of Rice at 10.8 in November 2023 from 10.6 percent in October 2023; Flour Bread and Other Bakery Products at 5.3 percent from 4.8 percent; Fish and Other Seafood at 5.6 percent from 2.2 percent; and Oils and Fats at 0.2 percent from -0.9 percent.
