Volume of Fisheries Production 
The total volume of fisheries production in Quezon province during the first Quarter of 2023 was estimated at 17,658.60 metric tons. It increased by 18.7 percent from the 14,876.72 metric tons reported in same quarter of 2022. This was brought about by the increase in the output from the commercial subsector (312.1%).

Among the subsectors, production from commercial fisheries contributed the biggest share of 72.8 percent to the total fisheries production during the period. It was followed by the output from municipal fisheries with 26.0 percent. Meanwhile, aquaculture fisheries shared 1.2 percent.

Commercial Fisheries 
Production for commercial fisheries was posted at 12,847.48 metric tons, an increment of 312.1 percent compared to the 3,117.77 metric tons reported in the same quarter in 2022. The top five species that caused the increase in the total production of this subsector were bali sardinella or tamban (1,659.74 MT), threadfin bream or bisugo (1,401.23 MT), roundscad or galunggong (836.86 MT), yellowfin tuna or tambakol/bariels (639.13 MT) and squid or pusit (590.07 MT).

Municipal Fisheries 
Municipal fisheries production was registered at 4,597.47 metric tons in the first quarter of 2023, lower by 1,059.07 MT compared to the same quarter’s output of  5,656.54 metric tons in the previous year. Of this total volume of production, marine municipal fisheries accounted for 99.8 while the rest were caught from inland bodies of water.  
The volume of production for marine municipal fisheries resulted to an 18.5 percent decrease from 5,630.70 metric tons in the first quarter of 2022 to 4,587.06 metric tons in the same quarter of 2023. The leading species that contributed to the decrease in the volume of production comprising marine municipal fisheries were threadfin bream or bisugo  (2,747.48 MT), goatfish or saramulyete (447.42 MT), grouper or lapu lapu (260.07 MT), cavalla or talakitok (67.70 MT) and skipjack or gulyasan (34.68 MT).

Inland fisheries production during the first quarter of 2023 was recorded at 10.40 metric tons, lower by 59.8 percent from its 2022 same quarter production of 25.84 metric tons. The top species contributing to the decline of the total volume of inland municipal fisheries production were blue crab or alimasag (10.26 MT), mudfish or dalag and tarpon or buan buan, both with 2.73 MT.

Aquaculture 
Aquaculture fisheries production for the first quarter of 2023 decreased to 213.66 metric tons, from 6,102.41 metric tons during the same period in 2022. The decrease in the total aquaculture production was attributed to mudcrab (3,618.16 MT), milkfish (1,187.43 MT), and Penaeus vannamei (132.03 MT) harvested in brackish fishpond. Also contributing to the decline was the production of seaweeds which decreased by 763.02 MT, from 831.36 metric tons to 68.34 metric tons.
