PRICE SITUATION IN BATANGAS (2012=100) JANUARY 2020 YEAR-ON-YEAR... The Consumers Price Index for January 2020 was 124.0. It accelerated by 4.2 points compared to last year of the same month. Still, Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco posted the highest index point change of 62.2 followed by Clothing and Footwear of 8.7 index points change. This is in comparison against last year of the same month. It was observed that Index point changes for the entire commodity groups increased. On the other hand, Commodity group with the lowest index change was Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels. MONTH-ON-MONTH... Starting from the month of January 2019 inflation rate starts to deflate until July 2019 and has random changes until January 2020 with an inflation rate of 3.5. This month, the infla- tion rate is 1.3 higher compared to last month. CPI BY COMMODITY GROUP Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained to be the highest commodity having a CPI of 298.4. Clothing and footwear and Restaurant and Misc. Goods groups followed with a CPI of 142.2 and 139.7 respectively. The Communication commodity gained the lowest place with a CPI of 103.2. FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES The month on month Consumer’ s Price Index of Food and Non – Alcoholic Beverages group gains a 3.1 Index Point Change. Fish items registered with the highest change of 20.2. Positive Index Point Change were recorded for almost all of the items except for rice and meat. NON-FOOD Non-Food posted a positive 0.2 index point change. The subgroup in Op- eration of Personal Transport Equipment was recorded as the highest having an in- dex point of 0.9. Most of the sub groups in Non-Food don't have any changes. PURCHASING POWER OF PESO The Purchasing Power of the Peso ( PPP) in Batangas for January was recorded at 0.81 centavos. This means that a market basket of goods and services worth one peso for this month of 2020 could be availed only at 0.81 centavos in 2012.
