2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH) Population Counts in Batangas The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) officially announced that based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), the total population of Batangas as of 01 May 2020 is at 2,908,494 . This count is declared official for all purposes by the President of the Philippines, pursuant to Proclamation No. 1179 dated 06 July 2021 . Batangas population represents the total number of persons living as of 12:01 AM on 01 May 2020 in 34 cities/municipalities of the province. It also includes Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad. The Philippine population increased by 214,159 from 2,694,335 in 2015, which translates to an annual population growth rate (PGR) of 1.62 percent. By comparison, the rate at which the country’s population grew during the period 2010 to 2015 was higher at 2.41 percent. Of the 4 cities, Lipa had the biggest population in 2020 with 372,931, followed by Batangas with 351,437, Sto. Tomas with 218,500 and Tanauan with 193,936 . The combined population of these four cities accounted for about 39.01 percent of Batangas population in 2020. The three least populated municipalities were Tingloy with 19,215 ; Santa Teresita with 21,559 ; and San Nicolas with 23,908. The municipalities that gained the most in population since the 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) was Rosario, with an increase of 11,588 persons in 2020 from its population in 2015. The fastest growing municipalities since the POPCEN 2015, meanwhile was Malvar with an annual PGR of 2.87 percent from 2015 to 2020. Bauan and Lobo posted the lowest PGR of -0.11 and -0.39, respectively. In light of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the PSA has proudly overcome unprecedented challenges to collect and produce high-quality data that are critical in decision-making for good governance, development planning, risk reduction and crisis response, social welfare programs, and business market analyses, among others. The PSA would like to extend its utmost appreciation to the public for their support and response to the 2020 CPH despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
