Number of Deaths… There were 1,180 registered deaths in Quezon in February 2023. It recorded a decrease of 22.1 percent from the previous month’s figure of 1,515. The daily average of death occurrences during the month was 42 or approximately two deaths per hour.   Deaths by Sex… There were more male deaths (635 or 53.8%) than female deaths (545 or 46.2%) registered during the month. The death sex ratio was calculated at 117 males for every 100 females in February 2023.   Deaths by Age-group… Majority of the death occurrences belonged to age group 60 and over with a total of 737. This comprised more than half or 62.5 percent of the total deaths recorded for the month. Age group 55-59 years old registered the next highest death toll which accounted for 85 or 7.2 percent.   Infant Deaths… Infant deaths totaled 37 or 3.1 percent of the total mortality.  Infant deaths were higher for males (20) than females (17) giving an infant death sex ratio of 118 males for every 100 females.   Deaths by Place of Occurrence and Usual Place of Residence… Lucena City recorded the most number of deaths at 312 or 26.4 percent. This may be explained by its large population and the health facilities available in the city. The municipality of Candelaria (82 or 6.9%) came next in terms of highest number of death occurrences. It was followed by Gumaca and Infanta (both with 54 or 4.6%). There were 207 deaths that occurred outside the usual place of residence of the deceased. Lucena City recorded the highest number of deaths (148) that occurred outside the usual residence of the deceased. It was followed by Infanta (16), Candelaria (10) and Gumaca (9). Majority of the rest of the municipalities and city of the province registered higher number of deaths by usual residence than the number of deaths by place of occurrence.   Leading Causes of Deaths (8 days old over)… There were 1,158 registered deaths among those aged 8 days and over.  Of this total, 260 (22.5%) cases were due to diseases of the heart while  hypertensive diseases accounted for 151 or 13.0 percent.   Cerebrovascular diseases caused 108 (9.3%) deaths, pneumonia caused 78 (6.7%) while diabetes mellitus caused 61 (5.3%) deaths.   Maternal Deaths… There was one maternal death recorded for the month of February 2023.     (SGD.)
