SPECIAL RELEASE: Urban Population in Quezon Province (Excluding Lucena City) (2020 Census of Population and Housing)

Quezon province has a total population of 1,950,459 (excluding Lucena City) as of May 1, 2020 where 596,919 persons lived in urban barangays. This represent an increase of 51,943 persons from 544,976 urban residents in 2015. On the other hand, the rural population or those who lived in barangays classified as rural in 2020 comprised the remaining 1,353,540 persons (69.4 percent). (Table 3) Level of Urbanization improves by 1.2 percentage points In 2020, the level of urbanization in Quezon province was computed at 30.6 percent. In comparison, it is 1.2 percentage points higher than the 29.4 percent level of urbanization in 2015. (Table 3) Eleven municipalities and 1 city surpass the provincial level of urbanization Among the 39 municipalities and 1 city in the province (excluding Lucena City), eleven municipalities and 1 city posted a level of urbanization higher than the provincial level (30.6 percent) in 2020. Candelaria topped the list with 79.4 percent urbanization rate, followed by San Andres (70.6 percent) and Pagbilao (61.0 percent). (Table 1) Candelaria registers the biggest urban population among the city/municipalities in the province In terms of urban population, Candelaria with 109,541 urban residents registered the biggest urban population among the city/municipalities in Quezon province. It was followed by Sariaya and Tiaong with 70,536 and 59,366 urban residents, respectively. Pagbilao and City of Tayabas came next with 48,021 and 45,781 urban residents. (Table 1)
As of May 1, 2020, the household population of Perez was recorded at 12,762 individuals, based on the result of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH).
As of May 1, 2020, the household population of Patnanungan was recorded at 15,047 individuals, based on the result of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH).
As of May 1, 2020, the household population of Panukulan was recorded at 16,376 individuals, based on the result of the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH).
