Live births… A total of 3,844 live births were registered in the province in July 2022. It recorded an increase of 3.7 percent from the June figure of 3,708. Of the total births registered, 50.1 percent were males and 49.9 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 100 males for every 100 females. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 124. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,283 or 33.4 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Candelaria with a total of 260 or 6.8 percent, Lopez with 215 or 5.6 percent, Gumaca with a total of 203 or 5.3 percent and Sariaya with 197 or 5.1 percent. The municipalities with the least number of registered births were Perez with 5 or 0.1 percent, Sampaloc with 4 or 0.1 percent, and Plaridel with 1 or 0.03 percent. Attendant at Birth... The 2,718 (70.7 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. Among the medically trained personnel, physicians attended to the most number of deliveries with 1,592 or 41.4 percent of the total births registered. The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 1,126 or 29.3 percent of the total. By residence of mother, seven municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals. These are the municipalities of San Francisco (81.7 percent), Patnanungan (76.0 percent), San Narciso (64.5 percent), Panukulan (61.1 percent), Mulanay (59.8 percent), Buenavista (59.1 percent) and Burdeos (53.2 percent).
A total of 3,214 live births were registered in the province in March 2024. It recorded a decrease of 2.6 percent from the February 2024 figure of 3,301.
A total of 3,685 live births were registered in the province in January 2024. It recorded an increase of 8.5 percent from the December 2023 figure of 3,397.
