Livestock Production The total volume of livestock production in the province of Quezon for 2019 was estimated at 59,974 metric tons. This was higher than 56,941 metric tons reported a year ago, giving a slight increase of 5.3 percent. Swine production was posted at 48,399 metric tons, an increment of 5.3 percent from 45,984 metric tons posted in 2018. Swine production comprised 80.7 percent of the total livestock production in the province. Cattle and carabao also increased in production by 8.5 percent (6,899 metric tons) and 4.6 percent (4,034 metric tons) respectively. Meanwhile, goat production reported a decrement of 13.8 percent in 2019.   Livestock Inventory   The total inventory of livestock in Quezon was registered at 438,227 heads. This was 0.2 percent higher than the previous year’s inventory of 437,397 heads. The stocks of cattle, swine, and carabao increased by 2.1 percent, 0.6 percent and 0.4 percent, respectively. In contrast, goat declined by 3.0 percent in inventory from 66,441 heads in 2018 to 64,440 heads in 2019.   Slaughtered Animals on Slaughterhouses   The number of livestock animals slaughtered in slaughterhouses in the province for 2019 was posted at 260,927 heads, down by 0.03 percent from 2018 figure of 260,999 heads. Huge decrement of 46.5 percent was noted in goat. The slaughtered cattle also decreased by 11.2 percent (456 heads) and carabao at 2.5 percent (210 heads). Among the livestock animals slaughtered in slaughterhouses, swine posted an increment of 0.3 percent (715 heads) compared to 2018.
