January 2019 registered the highest number of deaths during the months of January to August 2016 to 2020 January 2019 had the highest deaths recorded at 9,029 from January 2016 to August 2020. An average of 254 persons died daily in 2019 and this translates to 11 deaths per hour in the region (Figure 1 and Table 1). Figure 1. Registered Number of Deaths, CALABARZON: January - August 2016-2020 The preliminary number of deaths from January to August 2020 showed that the total registered deaths of 58,509 was lower than the total registered deaths of 60,879 in the same period last year. City of Antipolo registered the highest number of deaths Among cities/municipalities of the region, the City of Antipolo in the province of Rizal recorded the most number of registered deaths from January to August 2020 with a total of 3,389 persons (Table 3). It also had the highest number of deaths in a month with 502 persons who died in July while the lowest was in the City of Imus in Cavite province with 150 deaths in February. Table 1 shows that the month of April had the lowest number of registered deaths and July accounts with the highest number of registered deaths in the region from January to August 2020 with 6,460 and 8,132 deaths respectively. Top Five Cities with the Highest Number of Registered Deaths in CALABARZON: January - August 2020 The top five (5) cities of the region with the highest number of deaths in 2020 are City of Antipolo, City of Imus, City of Dasmarinas, City of Bacoor, and City of Calamba as shown in Figure 3. Registered deaths in the two major cities of Cavite province, namely City of General Trias and City of Dasmariñas increased from January to August 2019 to same period of 2020. (Table 4). Lowest number of deaths recorded in Quezon The top three municipalities with the lowest number of deaths by usual residence in CALABARZON (January to August 2020) were found in the province of Quezon: Jomalig with only 18 deaths, followed by Panukulan with 27 deaths, then Plaridel with 46 deaths (Table 5). Likewise, Quezon province only accounted 14.2 percent distribution of the total 58,509 deaths registered in the region from January to August 2020 (Table 2). Figure 4. Percent Distribution of Registered Deaths by Usual Residence, CALABARZON: January - August 2016-2020 Cavite registered higher deaths than the other provinces in the Region Table 2 shows that for the period January to August from 2016 to 2020, Cavite consistently had the highest monthly registered deaths among the provinces in the region. The province had 70,308 deaths from January to August 2016 to 2020. From 2019 to 2020, the four provinces namely Batangas, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal registered decreases of 2.8 percent, 2.2 percent, 3.0 percent and 0.79 percent, respectively.
