Vital registration is a continuous process. Hence there is a need to specify certain cut-off period for purposes of reporting. The Death Statistics in Quezon presented in this report contains highlights and summary of statistical tables of deaths that occurred on or before April 2019 and registered within the said month. Events that occurred in April 2019 but were not registered during the month were not included in this publication. For this report, Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2011 was used in data encoding. In the generation of DVSS tables however, CSPro 7.1 was utilized. Number of Deaths… There were 1,214 registered deaths in Quezon in April 2019. It recorded an increase of 7.3 percent from the previous month’s figure of 1,131. The daily average of death occurrences during the month was 40 or approximately two deaths per hour. Deaths by Sex… There were more male deaths (679 or 55.9 percent) than female deaths (535 or 44.1 percent) registered during the month. The death sex ratio was calculated at 127 males for every 100 females in April 2019. Deaths by Age-group … Majority of the death occurrences belonged to age group 60 and over with a total of 686. This comprised more than half or 56.5 percent of the total deaths recorded for the month. Age group 50-54 years old registered the next highest death toll which accounted for 87 or 7.2 percent. Infant Deaths… Infant deaths totaled 50 or 4.1 percent of the total mortality. Infant deaths were higher for males (26) than females (24) giving an infant death sex ratio of 108 males for every 100 females. Deaths by Place of Occurrence and Usual Place of Residence… Lucena City recorded the most number of deaths at 392 or 32.3 percent. This may be explained by its large population and the health facilities available in the city. The municipalities of Candelaria (67 or 5.5 percent), Lopez (67 or 5.5 percent), Sariaya (59 or 4.9 percent) and Infanta (49 or 4.0 percent) came next in terms of highest number of death occurrences. There were 259 deaths that occurred outside the usual place of residence of the deceased. Lucena City recorded the highest number of deaths (238) that occurred outside the usual residence of the deceased. It was followed by Gumaca (8) and Infanta (5). Majority of the rest of the municipalities and city of the province registered higher number of deaths by usual residence than the number of deaths by place of occurrence.   See more at ISSN 426 Data Herald 2019 April Death

DEATH STATISTICS IN QUEZON: October 2023 (Preliminary Results)
