Statistics on building construction A construction permit or building permit is a permit required in most jurisdictions for new construction, or adding onto pre-existing structures, and in some cases for major renovations. Generally, the new construction must be inspected during construction and after completion to ensure compliance with national, regional, and local building codes. Failure to obtain a permit can result in significant fines and penalties, and even demolition of unauthorized construction if it cannot be made to meet code. Building Construction in Batangas Province · Building permit applications for the month of August 2019 summed up to 259. In comparison to the previous month where 546 applications were processed, the number of building permits decreased by 287. · Of the 259 total building permits, 216 residential, and 43 non-residential. These constructions occupied a total floor area of 127,907 sq. m. with a total value of Php1.209.785M. · A value of Php262.743M came from the residential constructions, while Php947.043M came from the non-residential buildings. · For this month, Sto. Tomas submitted 34 building permits, the highest among all city/municipalities in the province. This was followed by San Jose with 25, Tanauan City 19 and San Pascual with 16 permits. · The least number of permits reported however, were from the municipalities of Lobo, Mataasnakahoy with 3, Laurel and San Luis 1 respectively. · The summary of data gathered from the province proves that Tuy contributed the highest in terms of building constructions having a total value of Php758.472M. This was followed by Malvar with a total value of Php89.317M.
