Birth Statistics: March 2019 Quezon (Preliminary Results)

Vital registration is a continuous process. Hence there is a need to specify certain cut-off period for purposes of reporting. The Birth Statistics in Quezon presented in this report contains highlights and summary of statistical tables of births that occurred on or before March 2019 and registered within the said month. Events that occurred in March 2019 but were not registered during the month were not included in this publication. For this report, Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2011 was used in data encoding. In the generation of DVSS tables however, CSPro 7.1 was utilized. Live births… A total of 4,066 live births were registered in the province in March 2019. It recorded an increase of 12.9 percent from the February figure of 3,602. The daily average of birth occurrences during the month was 131. Of the total births registered, 51.5 percent were males and 48.5 percent were females. This resulted to a birth sex ratio of 106 males for every 100 females. Lucena City recorded the highest number of live births with a total of 1,020 or 25.1 percent of the total births registered in the province. It was followed by Lopez with a total of 245 or 6.0 percent. The least number of registered births was observed in the municipalities of Plaridel and Sampaloc both with two (2) or 0.05 percent. Attendant at Birth... The 2,695 (66.3 percent) birth deliveries were attended to by medically trained personnel such as physicians, nurses and midwives. The number of birth occurrences delivered by the traditional birth attendants and those without medical training was 1,329 or 32.7 percent of the total. Seven municipalities in the province recorded higher number of live births attended to by traditional birth attendants compared to those attended to by health professionals. The municipality of San Francisco (83.9 percent) topped the list of areas with high percentage of birth deliveries attended to by non-health professionals. It was followed by the municipalities of San Andres, Panukulan, Burdeos and Patnanungan with 81.5 percent, 77.5 percent, 60.8 percent and 58.5 percent, respectively. A total of 4,303 live births were registered in the province in October 2023. It recorded a decrease of 0.7 percent from the September 2023 figure of 4,335.
