PRICE SITUATION IN BATANGAS (2012=100) APRIL 2019 The data presented herein were based on the results of the 2012-based Consumer Price Index Survey for all income households in Batangas for the month of March 2019. YEAR-ON-YEAR For the month of March 2019, the Consumer Price Index was 117.4 It accelerated by 5.0 points comapred to last year of the same month. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and Restaurant and Miscellaneous Goods and Services commodity remained the highest point change having a 46.2 and 7.7 index point changes respectively. Throughout the month of March, there were increase in index point changes in Food and NonAlcoholic Beverages, 5.0; Housing. Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, 5.1 health, 6.2; and Transport at 6.6 index points change. On the other hand, Clothing and Footwear, Education and Communication groups had a lower index points of negative 12.02, 2.6 and 0.3 indexes points compared last year of the same month. MONTH-ON-MONTH Starting from the month of November 2018 inflation rate starts to reduce until March 2019. This month, the inflation rate is 0.5 lower compared to last month. CPI BY COMMODITY GROUP Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained to be the highest commodity having a CPI of 242.9. Restaurant and Misc. Goods and Clothing and footwear groups followed the highest with a CPI of 134.9 and 134.1 respectively.  The Communication commodity gained the lowest place with a CPI of 101.5. FOOD AND NON - ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ■ All items of Food and Nonalcoholic beverages gained a 0.2 index point with the fish and vegetables recorded with the least index point having negative 6.6 and negative 6.1 respectively. ■ Most of the items in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages have a positive Index Point Change. ■ Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco continues to rise having 3.9 growth in Index point of change.   NON FOOD ■ Non-Food posted a positive 0.8 index point change. ■ The subgroup in Operation and Transport Equipments and Hospital Services remained to be the highest having an index point of 4.6. ■ Most of the sub groups in Non-Food don't have any changes.   PURCHASING POWER OF PESO The Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) in Batangas for March was recorded at 0.85 centavos. This means that a market basket of goods and services worth one peso for this month of 2019 could be availed only at 0.88 centavos in 2012. It had depreciated by 3 centavos compared to last year’s PPP.
