Building permit applications during the year 2017 reached 4,966 representing an increase of 19.92 percent as compared to 4,141 received from the previous year. The total value of building construction amounted to P8.22 billion with an increase of 13 percent from P8.11 billion recorded for the year 2016. Value of construction for residential buildings went up by 5 percent from P5.21 billion to P5.46 billion, on the other hand, Non-residential decreased by 7 percent to P2.3 billion from P2.5 billion. Additions, repairs, and alterations registered at P432.49 million from P395.25 million or an increase of 9 percent. Single type residential units recorded the most number of residential building constructions with 3,507 or 85 percent of the total. The total value of construction for this type amounted to PHP 4.5 billion covering a total floor area of 434 thousand square meters translating to an average cost of PHP 10,372 per square meter. The total value of non-residential construction was estimated at PHP 2.3 billion pesos with a total floor area of 238 thousand square meters. This translates to an average cost of PHP 9,798 per square meter. Commercial-type building dominated all other types of non-residential construction with 337 or 74 percent of the total. The total value of construction for this type was estimated at PHP 1.023 million covering a total floor area of 102 thousand square meters or an average cost of PHP 10,032 per square meter. Total value for Alterations and Repairs reached PHP 298 million with a decrease of 2 percent from P293million from the year 2016.
