Vital registration is a continuous process. Hence there is a need to specify certain cut-off period for purposes of reporting. The Death Statistics in Quezon presented in this report contains highlights and summary of statistical tables of deaths that occurred on or before August 2017 and registered within the said month. Events that occurred in August 2017 but were not registered during the month were not included in this publication. For this report, Decentralized Vital Statistics System (DVSS) 2011 was used in data encoding. In the generation of DVSS tables however, CSPro 6.2 was utilized.   Number of Deaths… There were 1,135 registered deaths in Quezon in August 2017. It recorded an increase of 4.1 percent from the previous month’s figure of 1,090. The daily average of death occurrences during the month was 37 or approximately two deaths per hour. Deaths by Sex…  There were more male deaths (655 or 57.7 percent) than female deaths (480 or 42.3 percent) registered during the month. The death sex ratio was calculated at 136 males for every 100 females in August 2017. Deaths by Age-group … Majority of the death occurrences belonged to age group 60 and over with a total of 637. This comprised more than half or 56.1 percent of the total deaths recorded for the month. Age group 55-59 years old registered the next highest death toll which both accounted for 98 or 8.6 percent. Deaths by Place of Occurrence and Usual Place of Residence… City of Lucena recorded the most number of deaths at 346 or 30.5 percent. This may be explained by its large population and the health facilities available in the city. The municipalities of Candelaria (54 or 4.8 percent), Gumaca and Lopez (both with 53 or 4.7 percent), Sariaya (46 or 4.1 percent) and Tiaong (42 or 3.7 percent) came next in terms of highest number of death occurrences. There were 196 deaths that occurred outside the usual place of residence of the deceased. Lucena City recorded the highest number of deaths (180) outside the usual residence of the deceased. It was followed by Gumaca and Lopez (both with 6), Infanta (2) and Burdeos and Unisan (both with 1). The rest of the city and municipalities of the province registered higher number of deaths by usual residence than the number of deaths by place of occurrence.   See more at ISSN 354 Data Herald 2017 August Death

DEATH STATISTICS IN QUEZON: October 2023 (Preliminary Results)
