This special release presents statistical data on births occurring for the month of September 2023 in the Province of Cavite. This publication shows the disaggregated data of live births by sex and by registration status down to city/municipal level. It also presents the total registered live births by marital status of parents, place type and attendant-at-birth.  The civil registry documents transmitted by the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) to Cavite Provincial Office for machine processing served as the source of data in preparation of this publication.

Births in Cavite
Table 1 shows that there were 5,326 registered live births in the Province of Cavite for the month of September 2023. Male births accounted for 50.3% or 2,678 of the total births while female births accounted for 49.7% or 2,648. Males were higher by 30 than females. Five (5) cities and six (6) municipalities recorded more male births than females. These were as follows: City of Bacoor, Cavite City, City of Dasmariñas, City of Imus and Tagaytay City and municipalities of General Emilio Aguinaldo, Mendez, Noveleta, Silang, Tanza and Ternate. The same number of male and female births were recorded in Alfonso, Kawit and Rosario.

The City of Dasmariñas recorded the highest registered live births with 876 composed of 444 males and 432 females. This was followed by City of Bacoor and Trece Martires City with 781 and 775 registered live births, respectively. The least registered live births were recorded in Mendez with 19, followed by Ternate with 20 and Alfonso and Magallanes both with 22 live births.

Table 2 shows that 77.1% or 4,109 were timely registered and 22.9% or 1,217 were late registered. Timely registered births were higher by 2,892 compared to late registered births. Majority were registered within the reglementary period of 30 days.

Trece Martires City had the highest percentage of timely registered births with 84.3% or 653 out of 775 total registered births. This was followed by Maragondon with 84.1% or 37 out of 44 total registered births and Noveleta with 82.5% or 52 out of 63 registered births. On the other hand, Alfonso recorded the highest percentage of late registered births with 72.7% or 16 out of 22 registered births, followed by Amadeo with 69.7% or 23 out of 33 registered births and Ternate with 60.0% or 12 out of 20 registered births.

Figure 1 shows that 3,665 or 68.8% were non-marital births or babies born out-of-wedlock and 1,661 or 31.2% were marital births. Non-marital births were higher by 2,004.

Figure 2 shows that babies born in Health Facility had a total of 4,506 of which 2,303 were males and 2,203 were females. Babies born at Home had a total of 816 comprised of 374 males and 442 females. The remaining four (4) births, one (1) male and three (3) females, had no place type of occurrence stated on the birth certificate.

Figure 3 shows that majority of birth deliveries were attended by Physician with a total of 2,822 of which 1,401 were males and 1,421 were females. It was followed by Midwife with 1,659 composed of 891 males and 768 females and Unlicensed Midwife with 671 composed of 297 male births and 374 female births. Nurse had attended a total of 146 births of which 78 were males and 68 were females. Others had the least birth deliveries with 28 composed of 11 male births and 17 female births.

Summary
The Province of Cavite had recorded a total of 5,326 live births for the month of September 2023. Male births were predominant in most cities/municipalities. Overall, males outnumbered females by 30. The highest number of registered births came from the City of Dasmariñas with 876 and the least came from Mendez with 19 live births only. Timely registered births were higher than late registered births. There were also more non-marital births compared to marital births. Majority of birth deliveries occurred on a Health Facility and the most common attendant-at-birth was Physician.
