PSA Quezon will conduct the Second Visit of 2023 Family Income and Expenditure Survey (FIES) in January 2024. It is the 20th series of FIES and first conduct of the biennial FIES, which was previously conducted every three (3) years since 1985.  FIES is the main source of data for the estimation of the official poverty statistics that will serve as inputs in improving the socio-economic conditions of the Filipino people through the policies and programs of the government. FIES is a rider survey to the January 2024 Labor Force Survey (LFS).

Meanwhile, LFS is a monthly and quarterly nationwide survey of households conducted by the PSA to measure the current state of the Philippine labor market. Data gathered in this survey will be used to calculate national and regional key employment indicators.

There are 2,546 sample households/housing units in Quezon to be covered for these surveys, adopting the 2023 Geo-Enabled Master Sample. These are located in thirty (30) sample municipalities and two (2) cities of the province. With this, PSA Quezon hired eighty-eight (88) Statistical Researchers (SRs) and ten (10) Team Supevisors for the conduct of the said survey that will run from January 8 until January 31, 2024. Also, Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) data collection method will be employed for these surveys using android tablets.

Provincial Statistics Officer Airene A. Pucyutan of PSA - Quezon enjoins everyone, especially the sample households to support these statistical activities by providing accurate and complete information to the authorized data collectors of PSA. The information collected shall be treated with utmost confidentiality as mandated under Section 26 of the Republic Act 10625. Those who will refuse to reply to the said surveys, however, shall be imposed with the penalty of imprisonment and a heavy fine as stipulated under Section 27 of the same law.
