CPI, Year-on-Year The average Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Quezon for the year 2020 was estimated at 124.8 index points, higher by 3.1 index points from its year ago figure of 121.7. CPI by commodity group, Year-on-Year Alcoholic beverages and tobacco showed the highest CPI (315.7 index points) among the commodity groups. The group of restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services followed with 127.5 index points. Transport registered the least CPI of 100.2 index points followed by communication with 103.2 index points. All commodity groups recorded price index increments. Inflation Rate, Year-on-Year Average inflation rate (IR) in Quezon increased by 0.8 percentage points from 1.7 percent in 2019 to 2.5 percent in 2020. The highest IR noted in 2020 was in the month of December, at 4.8 percent. In 2019 however, the highest IR recorded was in the months of January and December (both with 3.3 percent). Inflation Rate by Commodity Group, Year-on-Year By commodity group, IR was highest for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, posted at 15.2 percent. Food and non-alcoholic beverages (2.8 percent) exhibited the second highest IR, followed by restaurant and miscellaneous goods and services (2.4 percent). Commodity group of transport a negative IR of 1.0 percent. The rest of the commodity groups had IR ranging from 0.6 percent (both commodity groups of communication and education) to 1.7 percent (furnishings, household equipment and routine maintenance of the house).
