PHILSYS TEAM OF PSA QUEZON REGISTERS RESIDENTS OF CAGSIAY III TO PHILSYS

The Philippine Statistics Authority Quezon Provincial Statistical Office in coordination with the local government of Mauban, Quezon conducted PhilSys  onsite registration and promotion on the use and benefits of National ID to the residents of Mauban particularly in the Island barangay of Cagsiay III last August 6, 2024.

The main objective of the activity is to ensure that all residents of Mauban Quezon including the Indigeneous Peoples are included in the National Identification System. As part of the information awareness campaign during the event, there was a discussion on the importance of being PhilSys-registered and how registrants can utilize the PhilID for social protection programs and other transactions that requires a valid ID. Demonstration on how to generate, view and download the Digital National ID using the national-id.gov.ph application was promoted through the distribution of flyers. Attendees were also reminded on the acceptability of National ID in any of its authorized format (Physical  PhilID  card,  ePhilID, Digital National ID) asa valid proof of identity and age when transacting with the government and private institutions. Also touched were topics on tracking, retrieval and verification of the status of clients’ PhilID as well as the acceptance of application for the replacement of peeled off/damaged PhilID card. In this event, a total of one hundred-sixty (160) registrants were successfully registered including five (5) Dumagat IPs.

PROVINCIAL STATISTICS COMMITTEE OF QUEZON (PSCQ) UNDERTAKES THIRD QUARTERLY MEETING FOR 2024

The Provincial Statistics Committee of Quezon (PSCQ) successfully conducted its third quarterly meeting last August 28, 2024, at the conference room of Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) - Quezon Provincial Statistical Office. It was attended by the committee members and representatives from various government agencies and offices, including officials of PSA-Quezon.

PSCQ Chairperson Engr. Russell C. Narte, EnP of the Office of the Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator, presided over the meeting, and the following agenda items were discussed: (a) 35th National Statistics Month Calendar of Activities; (b) PSA-LGU Data Sharing for Business Register Project;

(c) Updates on the 2024 Census of Population and Housing and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS); (d) Updates on the Philippine Identification System; (e) eLGU BPLS Features and Implementation Status in Quezon; (f) Prices and Inflation Rate in Quezon and Lucena City; (g) Preliminary Results of Labor and Employment Survey (April Round); (h) Peace and Order Situation, and (i) Data on Agriculture.

The committee approved a resolution for the 35th National Statistics Month Provincial Calendar of Activities for 2024. Additionally, the meeting served as a platform to call for PSC Quezon members’ support for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS.

INFLATION RATE RECORDED AT 5.7 PERCENT INCREASE IN QUEZON FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2024

The headline inflation or overall inflation in Quezon increased to 5.7 percent in July 2024, from 5.3 percent in June 2024. This brings the average inflation rate of the province from January to July 2024 to 3.3 percent. In July 2023, inflation rate was lower at 2.2 percent.

The uptrend in the overall inflation in July 2024 was primarily influenced by the higher year-on-year increase in the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages at 9.7 percent during the month, from an annual increase of 9.4 percent in June 2024.

Moreover, higher inflation rates during the month were also noted in the indices of transport at 7.2 percent and education services at 8.3 percent from their respective inflation rates of 5.3 percent and 5.8 percent in the previous month.

INFLATION RATE RECORDED AT 5.2 PERCENT INCREASE IN LUCENA CITY FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2024

The headline inflation or overall inflation in Lucena City increased to 5.2 percent in July 2024, from 4.9 percent in June 2024. This brings the average inflation rate of the city from January to July 2024 to 3.6 percent. In July 2023, inflation rate was lower at 2.5 percent.

The uptrend in the overall inflation in July 2024 was primarily influenced by the higher year-on-year increase in the heavily-weighted food and non-alcoholic beverages at 8.1 percent during the month, from an annual increase of 7.6 percent in June 2024.

Moreover, higher inflation rates during the month were also noted in the indices of transport at 7.2 percent and education services at 8.0 percent from their respective inflation rates of 5.8 percent and 5.6 percent in the previous month.

In contrast, among the 13 commodity groups, only housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels recorded lower inflation rate at 3.6 percent during the month, from 4.2 percent in the previous month.
