The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Batangas joined forces with GCash in a special youth-centered event at the University of Batangas on February 17-18, 2025, to facilitate National ID registration. Through this initiative, the PSA Batangas team successfully registered 38 individuals and issued 48 ePhilID, helping them secure a valid government-issued ID crucial for various transactions, including digital financial services.

The event, part of the "GCash x PSA - KYC On the Go Kick-Off," aimed to address a major challenge faced by college students in opening GCash accounts— the lack of valid identification. With nearly 20% of rejected applications among college youth (18-22) being ID-related, and around 30% of GCash Jr. (7-17) applications denied due to incomplete or unacceptable birth certificates, the partnership between PSA and GCash provided a solution through on-site National ID registration.

By securing their National IDs, students not only gained access to government services but also unlocked opportunities for financial inclusion, enabling them to fully verify and utilize their GCash accounts. The initiative also aligned with the youth’s increasing engagement in digital transactions, as many are experience seekers who creatively earn and manage their own finances through online selling, internships, and other entrepreneurial ventures.

PSA Batangas remains committed to making the National ID registration more accessible, especially for students and young individuals who can greatly benefit from having a valid government-issued ID. This collaboration with GCash marks another step in empowering Filipinos toward seamless identity verification and financial inclusion.
