PRICE SITUATION IN BATANGAS (2012=100) OCTOBER 2019 YEAR-ON-YEAR... The Consumer Price Index for October 2019 was 121.7. It accelerated by 0.9 points compared to last year of the same month. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco and Restaurant and Miscellaneous Goods and Services commodity remained the highest point change having a 62.9 and 9.2 index point changes respectively. Throughout the month of October, there were increase of 72.8 percent in index point change of the commodity group. This comparison was against last year of the same month. On the other hand, 27.2 percent of the commodity group decreases its index point change compared to last year of the same MONTH-ON-MONTH… Starting from the month of October 2018 inflation rate starts to deflate until2019. Except from July to August 2019 which accelerated by 0.2 This month, the inflation rate is 0.2 lower com-pared to last month. Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco remained to be the highest commodity having a CPI of 292.9. Restaurant and Misc. Goods and Clothing and footwear groups followed with a CPI of 136.3 and 142.0 respectively. The Communication commodity gained the lowest place with a CPI of 101.9. FOOD AND NON-ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES The month on month Consumer’s Price Index of Food and Non- Alcoholic Beverages group gains a 0.5 Index Point Change. This was observed in most of the commodities belong to this group. Positive Index Point Change were recorded for almost all of the items except for bread and cereals, rice, meat, sugar, jam, honey, chocolate, and confectionaries. NON-FOOD Non-Food posted a positive 0.2 index point change. The subgroup in Medical Products, Appliances Equipments was recorded as the highest having an index point of 0.6. Most of the sub groups in Non-Food don't have any changes. PURCHASING POWER OF PESO The Purchasing Power of the Peso (PPP) in Batangas for October was recorded at 0.82 centavos. This means that a market basket of goods and services worth one peso for this month of 2019 could be availed only at 0.82 centavos in 2012. It had depreciated by 1 centavos compared to last year’s PPP.
