Trece Martires City, Cavite - On 19 March 2025, PSA Cavite held a Poster Making Contest in celebration of the Girl-Child Week, as part of the 2025 National Women’s Month Celebration. The event embraced the theme “Walang Puwang sa Lipunan ang Karahasan: Labanan ang Pang-aabuso at Eksploytasyon sa Batang Babae Online at Offline”.  Ten female Grade 6 students from Trece Martires City Elementary School participated in the two-hour poster making contest. Entries were judged based on the relevance of the theme, creativity, visual impact, working habits and speed. The invited judges were Mr. Maximo L. Lontoc, Jr, City Civil Registrar of Trece Martires City, Mr. Rolly J. Caño, Teacher III and CSS Lucia Iraida A. Soneja. Students were given a two-minute oral presentation explaining the concept behind their artwork to earn additional points. At the end, the top three students were declared as winners are Hannah Rowe M. Muñasque, Ericajones V. Etoc and Marley Yvette O. Buenaobra.

On the 20th day of March 2025, PSA Cavite organized an exhibit that showcased the rights of a woman and how they should be valued. Ten art pieces from the Poster Making Contest were displayed in the PSA Cavite Gallery. An information material regarding rights of a woman was also posted. The office also had a Wall of Empowerment for our citizens to voice out their opinion and share their thoughts anything related to womanhood.

 

26 March 2025 - Another highlight of the celebration is the conduct of a seminar on Republic Act 9710 Magna Carta of Women: Knowing Your Rights! The activity was attended by the PSA Cavite employees including regulars, COSWs and OJTs including the public clients in the CRS outlet. The training started with the opening message of Ms. Raquel C. Ronario, Supervising Statistical Specialist as representative of CSS Lucia Iraida A. Soneja. Thereafter, Registration Officer I Jayzel Ivy P. Bago introduced the speaker Prof. Evelyn F. Grueso, a GAD Advocate from Cavite State University, Indang Campus.

 

Ms. Grueso emphasized the importance of knowing your rights as a woman such as protection and security in times of disaster, calamities and other crisis situations, especially in all phases of relief, recovery, rehabilitation and construction efforts, including protection from sexual exploitation and other sexual and gender-based violence. Participation and representation, including undertaking temporary special measures and affirmative actions to accelerate         and ensure women’s equitable participation and representation in the third level civil service, development councils and planning bodies, as well as political parties and international bodies, including the private sector. Equal treatment before the law, including the State’s review and when necessary, amendment or repeal of existing laws that are discriminatory to women, Equal access and elimination of discrimination against women in education, scholarships and training. This includes revising educational materials and curricula to remove gender stereotypes and images, and outlawing the expulsion, non-readmission, prohibiting enrollment and other related discrimination against women students and faculty due to pregnancy outside of marriage; and many more.

Following the discussions, an open forum was conducted. Many questions were actively asked by participants. A certificate of appreciation was later presented to the resource speaker. With her closing remarks, Statistical Specialist II Princess Elora M. Ong has ended the program.
