Special Release on Vital Statistics July-September 2019 Birth Statistics The number of births registered in the second quarter of 2019 declined by (0.22) percent from 13,349 to 13, 320 in the quarter. On the average, there were about 144 babies born daily or about 6 babies born per hour. The highest number of registered live births occurred in September 2019 at 4, 781 with 2.8 percent increase from the figure of 4,649 recorded in September 2018. Municipality of Lemery reported the highest number of births in 31 municipalities with 1,251 or 9.39 of the total. This was followed by Balayan with 879 or 6.60 percent, Bauan with 801 or 6.01 percent, Rosario with 745 or 5.59 percent and Nasugbu with 688 or 5.17 percent. However, municipality of Sta. Teresita reported the lowest registration of live births with 10 births or 0.08 percent of the total. More than twice of the total birth deliveries were medically attended for the third quarter. However, births attended by medical professionals in the quarter increased from 88.88 percent in August to 90.69 in September, while traditional birth attendants (TBAs) or “hilots” fell from 10.93 percent in July and September with to 10.17 and 8.24 percent, respectively. Batangas showed an increasing trend on births attended by health professionals, Batangas City showed the highest proportion of births attended by health professionals among cities/ municipalities. Municipality of Lemery also showed high proportions of births that were medically attended. On the other hand, municipalities of Balete, Ibaan, Padre Garcia, Sta. Teresita, Taysan and Tingloy had less than half of births that occurred in its area that were medically attended. Marriage Statistics Registered marriages in the province showed a declining trend from 2,624 in 2019 third quarter to 2,945 in 2018 of the same quarter, a decrease of 11 percent in a span of one year. The highest increase in reported marriages was noted in Lipa City with 16.2 percent. Batangas City ranked second and Nasugbu ranked third with 10.9 and 5.9 percent, respectively. The lowest recorded in Tingloy with 0.27 percent. Marriages performed through Roman Cathlic churches decreased by 11 percent in the second quarter. However, marriage rites also decreased from 9.4 percent and 17.3 percent, respectively. Death Statistics Registered deaths in Batangas showed an increasing trend from 4,605 in 2019 second quarter to 4,375 in 2018 of the same quarter, an increase of 5.3 in a span of one year. Males out-numbered females with the sex ratio of 132.8 males per 72.3 females of the second quarter. Batangas City topped as the most number of registered deaths with 1,272 deaths. The top five municipalities in terms of number of deaths were Lemery with 238, ranked first, followed by Nasugbu with 220 which ranked second, Sto. Tomas with 196, third and Balayan and Bauan which ranked fourth and fifth ranked with 188 and 166, respectively. These five municipalities had a percentage share of around 22 percent of the total deaths in the province. On the other hand, municipality of San Nicolas had the lowest number of registered deaths in the province contributed less than one (1) percent share of the proportion of deaths. From the total registered deaths in Batangas, 61.3 percent (2,824) were attended by health professionals (private physician, public health officer and hospital authority) while 23.4 per-cent (1,076) were attended by non-health professionals. Meanwhile, reported death cases without any attendant and not stated reached to 15.3 percent. Fetal Deaths The top city in terms of high proportion of registered fetal deaths was Batangas City with 28 registered deaths. Tanauan City ranked second with 17 and Rosario which ranked third with 12 registered deaths for the third quarter. On the other hand, there were sixteen out of 34 cities municipalities had zero number of registered fetal deaths for the third quarter.
A total of 3,685 live births were registered in the province in January 2024. It recorded an increase of 8.5 percent from the December 2023 figure of 3,397.
This special release presents gender statistics on vital events such as birth, marriage and death for the 1st Semestral 2024 in the Province of Cavite.
